Your love story: Tell us a bit about how you met and how this led to your engagement. Feel free to share your engagement story with us, too!

Tinder! For a £40 bet from my friends, I agreed to meet James, adamant that I absolutely did not want a boyfriend. Seven years later, here we are. What started as a light-hearted challenge quickly turned into something neither of us expected.

Engagement story

James proposed when I least expected it, on the headlands of Beauport. It was a week before my marathon and I had completely refused to walk any further to the exact spot he had in mind. Little did I know, he was trying to get me there to ask me to marry him. Despite my stubbornness and tired legs, he made it happen and it was perfect.

Which Catherine Deane gown/bridal
separates, and accessories did you choose?

I wore the Anna Skirt paired with the Tori Top.

Did you find your Catherine Deane outfit online, at our London Boutique, or at one of our
stockists?

I was specifically looking for a brand that offered beautiful two-piece options, as there are so few that give you that level of choice. I travelled from Jersey to the London showroom with some of my bridesmaids. The experience was relaxed and comfortable, which made it so special. I was actually deciding between the Tori and the Monique, both were so lovely.

What does it mean to you to be a Catherine Deane Bride / Why did you fall in love with the brand?

I loved the flexibility of being able to create my own look. The separates felt modern but still timeless, and the whole showroom experience felt calm and enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

Did you have a specific theme/color palette for your wedding day - if so, what drew you to this mood?

We wanted an autumnal, warm and relaxed feel. The olive green suits, earthy tones and Tipi reception created a cosy atmosphere that felt completely us.

How did you decide that your wedding venue was the one?

We were married in a beautiful church in St Brelade’s Bay, built in the 6th century. It’s absolutely gorgeous and full of history. For our reception, we chose Tipis at The Farmers Cricket Ground, owned by a family friend and one of the best cricket grounds we’ve ever seen. It felt personal, meaningful and perfectly suited to the laid-back celebration we wanted.

After going through the wedding planning and gown shopping journey, what advice do you have for future brides?

Make decisions that feel right for you as a couple. Don’t be afraid to do things differently or choose what feels natural rather than traditional. The day goes so quickly, so focus on creating an atmosphere where you can truly enjoy it.

What is the most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Walking into the Tipis and seeing all of our favourite people together in one place. After years together, it felt surreal and incredibly special to finally celebrate as husband and wife surrounded by everyone we love.
