Your love story ~ how did you meet, how did you know you've found the one?

Sam and I first met 13 years ago at Faces nightclub in Gants Hill, Essex. We had a mutual friend DJ’ing that night, and poor Sam ended up comforting a random crying drunk girl (me)! He kindly bought me a drink, and that’s where our story began.

Fast forward to Christmas 2023: we got engaged in our local pub, just after the Christmas lights were switched on in our little Essex town. We’re not very showy people, so it was a wonderfully humble moment, more of a “Shall we just get married now?” kind of engagement.

Then, in January 2024, Sam surprised me with the most beautiful opal and diamond engagement ring from a jeweler in The Lanes, Brighton. He even got down on one knee to propose properly. Even though I knew it was coming, I still cried tears of happiness

Which Catherine Deane items did you wear on your wedding day?
I chose the amazing Dew Gown and the beautiful Belson Hair Vine

Did you visit our London Boutique, purchase your gown online, or through one of our global stockists? We'd love to hear how you found the one!

What does it mean for you to have been a Catherine Deane Bride?

Catherine Deane popped up on my Instagram one day, featuring the Catherine Gown - I immediately fell in love! The style of dresses were perfect for my eclectic & vintage wedding.

Tell us about your bridal accessories.

I styled my hair myself in a classic bun, curling the front pieces for a soft, romantic touch. I finished the look with the beautiful Belson Hair Vine, which added just the right amount of sparkle and elegance. My shoes were the most gorgeous satin pointed heels from ASOS’s Be Mine collection, the ‘Bridal Vennie kitten heels in ivory'. They were classic, comfortable, and perfect for the day. For my perfume, I wore Gucci Bamboo Eau de Parfum, such a beautiful scent, and Sam’s absolute favourite!

Tell us about your bridesmaids dresses.

I asked my bridesmaids to choose their own dresses in burnt orange, as our theme was burnt orange and navy (very autumnal and warm). I wanted them to feel comfortable and confident, so this gave them the freedom to pick styles that suited their figures best. They both found the most gorgeous dresses that complemented each other perfectly and looked absolutely stunning on the day!

Did you have a specific theme/color palette for your wedding day - if so, what drew you to this mood?

As our venue had an eclectic, vintage charm, and with our wedding taking place at the start of autumn, we felt that burnt orange and navy were the perfect colours. They beautifully complemented not only our wedding party but also the character of the venue itself. The theme came together perfectly, it couldn’t have been more us!

How did you decide that your wedding venue was the one?

As I mentioned before, we’re not a very showy couple, so our original plan was to have a simple registry office wedding in London followed by an after-party/reception at a nearby pub. However, every time we searched for reception venues, The Roost kept popping up. Curious, we looked into it and discovered that they actually have a license to hold wedding ceremonies on-site. After seeing their gorgeous photos and the unique character of the space, we instantly knew, this was the venue for us!

After going through the wedding planning and gown shopping journey, what advice do you have for future brides?

Get all the big things organised early like the venue, caterers, photographer, videographer, florist, and of course, the dress. Try not to leave all the little details until the last minute (like we did!). I was still putting together handmade place settings the day before the wedding - definitely not ideal! But above all, enjoy the build-up together. It all goes by so quickly, so take it all in and make the most of every moment.

What is your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Oh gosh, there were so many memorable moments! But the one that stands out the most was seeing Sam for the first time as I walked down the aisle. I’ll cherish that moment for the rest of my life.
