Tell us the story behind your boutique - how did it start, how long have you been open, and what inspired you to start working in the bridal industry?
SIÖDAM – inspired by Monsieur = SIÖ and Madame = DAM – has stood for exclusive fashion and personal all-around service at the highest level since 1977. Until 2019, we were based in Frankfurt am Main and operated a large boutique in the heart of Germany.
In 2019, we decided to bring everything with us to our hometown of Bad Soden im Taunus. Today, we welcome our clients in a beautifully restored turn‑of‑the‑century villa, spread across three floors and filled with everything a bride’s heart could desire.
We chose the bridal industry because we love the combination of fashion and heartfelt moments. Accompanying a bride or groom on their journey is a great privilege for us. Every dress carries something special, and every couple brings their own story. That is what makes our work so unique. The constant evolution of fashion also keeps our world exciting and diverse.
We are always searching for the most beautiful trends and gowns, while continually rediscovering older pieces in new ways.
How do you curate the designers in your store - what makes you connect with the brands that you carry?
We select our designers with great care, and our decisions are never made spontaneously. When we are drawn to the style or a new collection of a designer, we only make a final decision after a thorough background check. Beyond the visual impression, many other criteria are important to us.
We look closely at where the pieces are produced, what the working conditions are like, and where the materials come from. It is essential for us to offer our brides high‑quality couture. No designer becomes part of our assortment without us having seen the pieces in person. Fashion shows alone are rarely enough, because we want to feel the fabrics, experience the texture, and assess the comfort of each gown ourselves. Our philosophy is simple: touch first, then buy.
Over the many years we have been in the business, we have built strong relationships with several long‑standing designers. With them, we know exactly what level of quality to expect, and from time to time, we order a gown online. Without this trust, it would not be possible to carry such a wide range of designers and collections. Even so, we remain critical and regularly evaluate whether each of our established designers continues to meet our standards.
Our brides expect the highest quality, a wide range of sizes, and a wide variety of styles. These expectations are the same standards we apply to our designers. When curating our selection, we aim for stylistic diversity to ensure that every bride can find something that reflects her personality. We are grateful that there are many labels that hold themselves and their collections to the same high standards.
How would you describe the style and atmosphere of your boutique?
In our villa, brides immediately feel relaxed and at home. The beautiful charm of the historic building and the lovingly designed bridal suites create an atmosphere where you can truly feel comfortable. Between the original wooden floors and the soft, inviting sofas, brides discover a wide selection of dream gowns. We often hear the same sentence again and again: “It feels like an absolute girls’ dream.”
What do you love most about working with brides?
What I love most about working with brides is the many different stories and dreams they bring with them. Every woman is unique, and that makes this work so exciting. Guiding a bride from her first idea to the moment she finds her dress is always a beautiful and meaningful experience. There are always surprises, and very often brides fall in love with the gowns they never expected to choose. When a bride finds her dress, I still get goosebumps, even after all these years.
What is one piece of advice you give your brides during their wedding dress shopping journey?
